Kids like to make snacks for themselves and are more likely to eat a healthier snack if they have a hand in making it. Here are some great snacks kids can make.
Bagel Chips. Slice bagel into thin slices and brush with melted butter. (Let child experiment with spices to season the butter to different flavors). Toast bagel chips in oven or toaster oven (about 10 minutes at 400 degrees).
Fruit juice Balls
1 box vanilla cookies
1 small can of fruit juice (such as cherry)
1 box of powdered sugar
Smash cookies in a plastic bag until they are crumbs. Stir in juice and powdered sugar. Mix well then roll into balls.
Green Eggs and Ham
Tint 4 eggs green with food coloring and scramble in a pan. Give child sliced thick ham and a butter knife and have them cut out shapes to put in the eggs.
Tortilla Cookies
Cut tortilla into fun shapes and then brush with melted butter. Sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon and place in a 350 degree oven for ten minutes.
Animal Sandwiches
using animal crackers spread peanut butter, jelly, or cream cheese on one and match it to the same animal for a fun little sandwich.
Ants on a Log
Cut Celery into desired length. Fill center with peanut butter. Place raisins on top for ants.
Homemade pizzas
Using canned biscuit dough smash each biscuit flat onto a greased cookie sheet. Top with sauce and desired toppings (can make a face on it) and then bake at 400 for about 10 minutes.
Pear Mouse
Use a canned pear half and put two slice of a jumbo marshmallow on it for ears and chocolate chips or raisins for eyes and nose.
Have fun creating a fun snack!
